I have been a pediatrician for 3 decades and understand that the journey from infancy through adolescence is one that we take together. Nothing prepares you for being a parent. There are no high school or college courses, no baby 101 classes, but we can do this journey together.
First, there are no silly questions. Second, there are many different ways to bring up a child. The medical aspect is usually more straightforward—it is the growth and developmental part that is a bit trickier. During your child’s wellness exams, we will discuss growth and developmental milestones, or you can just call anytime with a question. Most of all, the most important thing to give your infant, child or adolescent is your time, your love and your desire for them to grow up to be well-rounded and good individuals.
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and 2 children. The kids are in their mid-20s now and starting to learn how to be adults. When they were young, we spent as much time with them as possible. Time was the greatest asset we had and hopefully the memories we experienced will last them their lifetimes. We love sports, travel, and experiencing different foods as a family. When they became teens, the kids wanted to be with their friends a bit more than their folks, which is natural. Savor your time together since it goes really fast!
