Westchester Health Associates will become part of Northwell Health on March 1, bolstering New York State’s largest health system with an extensive network of physicians and specialty practices. After signing a letter of intent in 2015 and entering into exclusive negotiations, Westchester Health and Northwell have finalized an agreement to partner in support of their shared commitment to quality and enhancing the patient experience.
Westchester Health has more than 100 providers in 39 locations throughout Westchester and Putnam counties in New York, as well as Stamford, CT. The practice includes primary care physicians and specialists in allergy/immunology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, podiatry and urology.
The agreement officially integrates Westchester Health Associates into the health system’s medical group practice, Northwell Health Physician Partners, which includes about 2,700 clinicians throughout the New York area.
“With the addition of Westchester Health Associates, Northwell Health is significantly expanding its footprint in Westchester County and beyond, adding 39 locations to an ambulatory network that already includes more than 550 outpatient facilities throughout the New York area,” said Michael J. Dowling, Northwell Health’s president and chief executive officer. “For our patients, Northwell’s partnership with Westchester Health Associates and its exceptional team of medical professionals provides even more choices to access quality care. It also builds on Northwell’s population health efforts to improve the coordination of care to the local communities we serve through Northern Westchester Hospital and Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.”
Westchester Health Associates is recognized as a premier medical practice whose members are leaders in population health management, as evidenced by its designation as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home – the highest recognition for a medical group – by the National Committee for Quality Assurance Physician Practice Connections.
“We are excited to join forces with Northwell Health and serve as their platform for Ambulatory Care growth in our region. We too share the vision to provide comprehensive affordable care to our patients and set the standard for quality in the region,” said Peter Mercurio, MD, FACC, president and CEO of Westchester Health Associates, a former member of the Northern Westchester Board of Trustees and past president of both the hospital’s medical board and the medical staff.
Westchester Health Associates’ offices are located in Armonk, Briarcliff Manor, Chappaqua, Harrison, Jefferson Valley, Katonah, Mahopac, Mamaroneck, Mt. Kisco, Mt. Pleasant, Scarsdale, Shrub Oak, Sleepy Hollow, Somers, Stamford CT, Tarrytown, Tuckahoe, Valhalla, White Plains and Yorktown Heights.
