As part of Northwell Health Physician Partners, we at Westchester Health are incredibly proud of our brave and dedicated physicians who are on the front lines caring for COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. Each week we will share their stories in their own words.
Dr. Deborah Shapiro making positive impacts on patients’ lives
For the past month, Dr. Deborah Shapiro, Westchester Health Primary Care Physician in our Valhalla office, has been redeployed as a hospitalist at Phelps Hospital taking care of a group of patients, mostly ones with the coronavirus.
“This has been a very surreal experience,” Dr. Shapiro says in a video (below), “both professionally and for my family. I feel good to know that I am doing my part and I know that I have made positive impacts on a number of people’s lives.”
Dr. Shapiro states that she is very thankful to all the staff at Phelps for being so warm and welcoming and for helping her re-learn inpatient medicine. “I am very grateful for all the wonderful people I have met here,” she adds.
