With our growing presence in New York and Connecticut, we are seeking a Physical Therapist Aide to assist in daily operations within our Physical Medicine Division located in Stamford, CT

JOB TITLE: Physical Therapist Aide
STATUS: Non-Exempt

The Physical Therapist (PT) works under the supervision of the Division's Physicians. The PT Restores patient's function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy.



The Physical Therapy Aide provides support to the practice by completing all front end functions including scheduling and pulling charts as well as assisting the treating Physical Therapist as needed so the patients can perform their physical therapy treatment in the safest and most efficient manner to provide optimum outcomes. High quality customer service, efficiency and accuracy are key outcomes for this position. The PTA represents the medical practice with a professional, positive manner and appearance in all activities and communications. The PTA properly processes patient paperwork and ensures accuracy of patient information.


1. Bringing in patients from the waiting room
2. Bringing patients chart from front office to treatment room
3. Helping the treating PT get the patient set up with moist heat, ice, appropriate exercises and stretches, and watching exercise form to make sure that exercises are performed correctly.
4. Change pillow cases and disinfect treatment tables following patient use
5. Launder towels and pillow cases, hot pack covers, and all other materials as needed and required. Fold items and keep neatly stacked
6. Clean and refill hot pack machine with clean water weekly
7. Responsible in ensuring ultrasound bottles and any other items that need filling/restocking are in good supply and alert their supervisor if supplies are low
8. Pulling charts and filing charts for physical therapy patients
9. Verifying insurance coverage for incoming patients, including but not limited to checking co-pay amount, authorizations, getting the appropriate paper work to the treating physical therapist and send to appropriate location, keeping track of work.
10. Complete MG-2 requests for authorization
11. Confirm present patients have authorization in good standing and have up-to-date prescriptions to cover their PT sessions
12. Send copies of billing sheets to CBO
13. Get Medicare Plan of Care evaluations signed by MD’s
14. Prepare charts for new patients that are coming in and call the new patients the day before their initial visit to confirm their appointment
15. Keep charts in neat condition with papers in appropriate places within the chart


1. Provides co-workers, patients and management with responses in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner
2. Maintains positive telephone hospitality manner and answers in house and in coming telephone calls
3. Performs other related duties as assigned by manager, Director, and Physician


A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a healthcare environment as a PT Aide

High School Degree or GED Required. Associate’s degree preferred.

Physical Therapy Aide Certification preferred, not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Interacts in an effective manner with practitioners, the interdisciplinary health care team, community agencies, patients and families with diverse opinions, values, and religious and cultural ideals.
Ability to work with minimal guidance in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Incorporates excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills, positive relationship building skills and critical analysis skills into case management practice for successful leadership.
Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite-ability to effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
