Running Doc: How to gauge body fat

Dear Running Doc: I just had a body composition test, which found that I'm at 7.8% body fat. (I'm 5-11.5 inches tall and weigh 172 pounds.) I was pleased with the results, as I was down from 8.6% body fat since my last test in July 2008, but it got me thinking: Just how useful is body fat percentage as a barometer of overall health?
