Mimi Kang, MD
Dr. Mimi Kang is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor of Arts. She received her M.D. at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and completed her residency at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Medical Center, an affiliate of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. She briefly worked at Northern Westchester Hospital as an Ob/Gyn prior to moving to Chicago where she worked at Illinois Masonic Medical Center for three years. In Chicago, she was an attending Ob/Gyn in an academic teaching hospital where her responsibilities included teaching Ob/Gyn residents, supervising midwives and performing deliveries in a birthing center. She also volunteered medical care at a local women’s advocacy center. She moved back to New York in 1999 once her husband had completed his surgical oncology fellowship. Dr. Kang has been in private practice specializing in obstetrics and gynecology and has been on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital since 1999. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Kang specializes in general obstetrics and also manages high risk obstetrical patients. She works closely with Dr. Hamid Mootabar, a board certified perinatologist. Multiple pregnancies, recurrent miscarriages, gestational diabetes, and advanced maternal age with IVF are commonly managed by Dr. Kang and her partners. Amniocenteses, 4-D ultrasound, level II anatomical scans, and first trimester genetic testing are offered in her state of the art equipped office.
Dr. Kang also specializes in the complete gynecological care. She sees adolescents, women in their obstetrical years, and women as they enter into their menopausal years. She provides counseling to adolescents and their mothers about menarche, irregular cycles, HPV vaccinations, contraceptive choices, and safe dating practices. She also provides counseling and care of peri-menopausal and menopausal women in their management of hormone replacement therapy and use of bio-identical hormones. Through her marriage to a surgical oncologist, she has a very special interest and personal insight into women battling breast cancer, especially patients testing positive for the BRCA gene that require prophylactic salpingoopherectomies. Dr. Kang performs many in-office procedures such as colposcopy, LEEP, IUD placement, and uterine ablations. Gynecological ultrasounds are performed on sight in her Mount Kisco office. She also has expertise in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries and performs pelvic surgery such as hysterectomies, myomectomies and ovarian cystectomies using the daVinci robotic laparoscopic system.
Dr. Kang maintains offices in Mount Kisco, Yorktown, Katonah and White Plains. She is also on most insurance plans.
Dr. Kang’s calm and professional manner has earned her many dedicated patients. She strives to deliver excellent obstetrical and gynecological care in a compassionate, calm and safe environment. She lives in Chappaqua with her husband and two children.
