Constantine Bakas, DO

Dr. Bakas specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Bakas attended Rutgers University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree. He received his Medical Degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island, where he was born and raised. He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at The State University Of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn- Lutheran Medical Center, Where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, He joined the academic faculty of SUNY-Lutheran Medical Center where he enjoyed teaching and supervising Obstetric and Gynecology residents while maintaining a private practice.

Dr. Bakas joined the staff at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in 1994 when he entered into private practice. He became the Medical Director of the Prenatal Care Center at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in 1995 and has directed the Hospital’s program since. In 2002, with his private practice continuing to grow, Dr. Bakas was picked to be the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at the Katonah Medical Group. In 2007, Dr. Bakas left the Katonah Medical group to become a founding member of Westchester Health Associates, PLLC where he serves on the Executive Committee. Dr. Bakas’ commitment to women’s health has earned him many dedicated patients. His approach has always been to provide an unparalleled patient care experience where the emphasis is on gentle, compassionate care for all patient concerns.

Dr. Bakas’ commitment to prenatal care and Obstetrics includes managing high-risk Obstetrical patients. He works closely with Dr. Francine Gallusosis, a Board Certified Perinatologist, also on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital Center. Gestational Diabetes, multiple pregnancies, advanced maternal age and other complications of pregnancy are commonly managed by Dr. Bakas. The practice offers first trimester screening; amniocentesis; level II anatomy scans as part of the routine Obstetrical care. This ensures that Dr. Bakas’ patients receive the highest quality care available.

Dr. Bakas’ expertise also encompasses complete gynecologic care. His patients often cite his warm, knowledgeable and reassuring manner as the reason they seek his advice regarding many women’s health issues throughout all stages of their lives. Dr. Bakas routinely counsels teens and their moms about irregular menstrual cycles, contraceptive choices, HPV vaccines and painful periods. He also provides care and counseling to women entering, or in the midst of, menopause. Hormonal therapies and /or alternatives are frequently managed. Dr. Bakas offers many in-office procedures such as ultrasounds, IUD placement, colposcopy and Leeps. He offers nonsurgical options to hysterectomy, heavy menses and irregular menstrual bleeding. However, he is an experienced surgeon who utilizes minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures in the outpatient setting when nonsurgical options are no longer effective. This approach allows patients a quicker recovery and a faster return to their daily routines.
