Pediatrics
Herbert A. Newman, MD
Dr. Newman's undergraduate studies were at the University of Michigan. He received his M.D. degree from Yale University School of Medicine, and did a year's rotating internship at The Hospital of the University of Pennslyvania. His pediatric residency training was on the Children's Service of the Massachusetts General Hospital.
After two years in the Air Force, where as Captain Newman he practiced Pediatrics at Travis Air Force Base in California, he returned to the east coast and, after a year of solo practice, he joined with Dr. Leroy Engel in partnership at 14 Soundview Avenue in White Plains in 1963. This was, of course, the genesis of Soundview Pediatrics.
Dr Newman is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Since 1969, Dr. Newman has been an attending physician at Blythedale Childrens's Hospital, a Pediatric rehabilitation hospital in Valhalla. He is presently the coordinating physician for the infants in the Day Hospital Program. Dr. Newman is also past President of Blythedale's Medical Executive Committee, and also is Chairman of the infectious Disease Committee.
