Navid Mootabar, MD
Born in New York City and raised in Westchester County, Dr Mootabar attended Columbia University where he received his Bachelor of Arts. He then received his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan and completed his residency also at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is currently the Co-Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Director of Gynecologic Surgery and a member of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Department at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY. He is also a past president of the Westchester Ob/Gyn Society. Dr Mootabar gives lectures nationally on topics that include minimally invasive treatments of irregular vaginal bleeding, alternatives to hormone therapy for treating menopausal symptoms and preconception counseling at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital’s Annual Westchester Infertility Conference.
Dr Mootabar is known for his warm and compassionate care. He spends a sufficient amount of time with each patient explaining their care on a level that is understandable. When one his patients are in labor, he enjoys spending the time at the patient’s bedside taking part in the joyous event. Dr Mootabar listens to his patients and encourages them to create their own pregnancy and birthing plans. He encourages vaginal birth after cesarean, natural labor and vaginal delivery of twin pregnancies.
Dr Mootabar has a broad range of interests. As Director of Gynecologic Surgery he is skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery such as the da Vinci Robot used for hysterectomy. He uses minimally invasive techniques to allow patients to have a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to their daily activities. Dr Mootabar performs in-office endometrial ablations to stop heavy periods thereby allowing his patients to avoid the hospital operating room and general anesthesia. He also offers non-surgical treatments for heavy periods and irregular vaginal bleeding.
Dr Mootabar interests also include infertility and high-risk obstetrics. In his Mount Kisco office he works closely with Dr Hamid Mootabar, his father who is a specialist board certified in high-risk obstetrics and the Director of the Perinatal Outreach Program at Columbia-Presbyterian hospital, to manage high risk pregnancies such as twins, gestational diabetes, recurrent miscarriages and advanced maternal age. He offers amniocenteses and alternatives, such as first trimester screening to detect chromosomal abnormalities, and performs detailed level II anatomy scans all in his office allowing his patients to receive the highest quality of care in one location.
Dr Mootabar has offices in Mount Kisco, Katonah, Yorktown and White Plains. His offices are equipped with state-of- the- art equipment such as his 4D ultrasound and urodynamics machine. He has privileges at Northern Westchester Hospital and Lawrence Hospital. Dr Mootabar lives in Bedford NY with his wife Nava, who practices general dentistry in Putnam County, and their 2 daughters.
