With our growing presence in New York, we are seeking a Medical Assistants to assist in daily operations within our Multi-Specialty Divisions throughout Westchester, NY.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Physician and/or Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant (MA) performs a variety of clinical tasks ranging from phlebotomy and performing EKG’s to obtaining vital signs and handling some front desk reception responsibilities. In addition, the MA is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greets and accompanies patient to examination room.
Performs review of patient’s routine laboratory tests prior to appointment with recent test results.
Enters Laboratory results into medical record if test performed outside of WHA.
Obtain vital signs which may include; blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain, and records information into patient’s medical record manually or into the electronic medical record.
Perform basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas and documents care given.
Assists scheduling tests, treatments, pre-certification of patients for hospital and processes referrals as ordered by physician.
Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records and other information into patient medical record.
Responds to patient concerns and directs issues to appropriate staff.
Maintains medical equipment and instruments within infection control guidelines.
Entering information obtained on the patient’s record into the electronic medical record.
Maintains strict confidentiality and ethical behavior.
Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
At least two years' prior professional MA experience preferred. Plus, one to three years in a health care facility. Experience with NextGen preferred. Prior experience working in private healthcare organizations strongly preferred.

Education:
High School graduate or GED required. Completion of a one–two year Certified Medical Assistant program from an accredited School. MUST BE AAMA, NHA, OR AMT CERTIFIED

Licenses/Credentials:
The MA is required to have a current, active certification for CMA, CCMA or RMA. The MA must have passed the NY State Board test and must provide their New York State Certification number on the resume. Resumes without AMT/AAMA/NHA certification numbers will not be reviewed.

Interacts in an effective manner with practitioners, the interdisciplinary health care team, community agencies, patients and families with diverse opinions, values, and religious and cultural ideals.
Ability to work with minimal guidance in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Incorporates excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills, positive relationship building skills and critical analysis skills into case management practice for successful leadership.
Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite-ability to effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Understands EHR and NextGen Systems
